Subject: LA ACM TACART disbanding ------------------------------------------------------
Los Angeles (LA) Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
Technical Activity Committee on Artificial Intelligence (TACART)
It is with regret that I announce the likely demise of TACART. Over the past several years, during which we have had a number of wonderful meetings, TACART has been steered mostly by Barney Toma (Program Chair), Stephanie August (Arrangements and our faculty contact at LMU) and by me (Chair, publicity). Unfortunately, Barney needs to spend more time on his business, Stephanie is a mother of five with two jobs, and I have had fairly severe medical problems since about January. We would need a real infusion of additional volunteer effort to keep TACART going. However, the LA Chapter of ACM will no doubt cooperate in sponsoring AI talks at their usual venue if there are particular speakers/talks you would like to propose. Email and Telephone contacts follow. L. Andrew Campbell campbell@aero.org (310) 545-5845 Barney Toma tomab@ecn.com (310) 323-8451
As a final note, here is the schedule of talks we held during the last activity year (September - May).
